Happy Pixel Day!

First impression is that I really like the complexity of your dithering throughout the picture, especially on the radial gradient around the outside.

I love that you wrote code to assist with the drawing, as you’ve got some great structures (and dithering!) that is ridiculously tricky otherwise. That looping border and it’s shading is really well formed. I hope you push further with coding+illustrations, as the output is really refreshing and good quality.

Oh, and the frog’s sweet!

Zanzlanz responds:

Hey thanks so much TOAS, for the kind review and for scouting me as an artist here on Newgrounds! That was an unexpected and exciting surprise for me. :D

I totally would love to continue generating stuff like this with code - especially into pixel art since I think it can be integrated more naturally than other mediums. I'll definitely keep trying to think of ideas with that!

Happy Pixel Day! (And again your octopus is ink-redible!)

I've forgotten how you make these. What's the white medium?

DieterTheuns responds:

Just your basic white markers/pens in various sizes.

Also, my thumb. You can't buy that.

The colours and brushes are nice, although you are recreating this image:

Having a flick through your gallery, you appear to be one of those artists who takes an image off Google Image search and paints it. That's good for learning how to use brushes, but you are making a copy of an existing painting.

If you like making wolf drawings, it might be worth your while to do some studies of wolves (or just their heads and skulls), get a rough idea of their shape and try making a wolf bust from scratch - if it's out of your head, it's something that you can definitely call your own.

BradMeyersArt responds:

There are several versions of this wolf painting based off actual photos... not sure what your problem is with somebody using a reference.. move along. And as far as you insulting my work and saying most are copies.. you are way wrong.. you can shove that turkey stick up your arse, pal. Maybe this will make you feel better.. ya F*** http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/bdmeyers/process

Put these in a single submission.
Other than flooding the portal it's difficult to tell what the difference between the pics are.

TheIYouMe responds:

Alright, I'll remember that next time I have something similar to upload.

"Old" :(

DieterTheuns responds:

Hey man, available for more when you are.

Really cool, the rough and dirty line work and colouring that you occasionally do is definitely working wonders in this polluted scrapyard of a painting. I'm scared to click and expand the pic in case I get tetanus.

Kamikaye responds:

Thx :) Glad I achieved such an immersive atmosphere :P

*nods approvingly at Lurkin's Chibi Knight entry*
Hope you're enjoying your copy of the game!

LurkinPanda responds:

Thank you. And I am.

30" x 40"? That sounds like something I'd rather see in person.
Nicely painted, the orange and pink colours really set it off.

Admiral-Basilisk responds:

I did paint it with that in mind, glad you noticed, and thanks for the review!

I will say that I like all the details you have on your character, such as the jewellery on the necklace, and it's a nice colour icey blue colour scheme ...

... but I wanted to mention that the pose is really awkward. You've twisted her shoulders around to face the viewer ... but by doing so the arm on the floor is brought further back. Since it's also off to the side of her body and bent, her arm isn't supporting her and she would topple. This is why one-armed floor press exercises are difficult!

I admire that you're trying to be adventurous with poses, but I find it's very distracting to the rest of the pic when they don't work.

Mckodem responds:

I had not actually taken into account that the shoulder would be pushed back when bringing the shoulders forwards. Thanks.

I agree that the pose is awkward (having just tried it) but I don't think that the pose is broken. The hand on the floor isn't bend, but maybe moving the hand more into the center of her pose would help with balance.

Thank you very much for the feedback, it really helps me.

This picture and Psychosheep's vestal pic is keeping me up all night.
The contest IS the prize!!! glory glory

Let's skip the contests in future and duke it out like real men *cracks knuckles*

deathink responds:

We will settle it next time in the Thunderdome!!!
