Somebody reported this pic as it uses AI, so I watched through the process video to understand what your involvement was.

While I can see this is your creation, the AI assisted part is incredibly unnecessary. The original picture is fine, it’s a vector image. The AI process then takes it and produces something that is similar to your pic …. and then you spend 2-hours editing all the images to make it an amalgamation of pics that just looks inconsistent and slightly off.

I’m not going to second guess why you chose to make an “AI assisted pic” but I think you would have been better off either learning how to use Photoshop or an equivalent to develop a painterly style, or pushing your talents with vectorised characters further.

Dakzky responds:

Photoshop not for me, my hands are shakey. It's physically impossible. As for the pic, It's pretty much just an experiment. I can definitely produce it in flash without AI. I've done it in the past many times. This new process I admit needs polish.

If a submission's unfinished, can you mark it as a sketch in future, please? It sticks out amongst other finished artworks on the art portal page.

Juicedupmangoes responds:

Oh, sorry about that. I'll do it next time

Watch out, Jagon's making a Pico Day submission

jagondudo responds:

Ha! once a year i crawl out haha

I’m jealous of the backdrop.

I think the transitions from violets to icy blue/turquoise are good, as is the highlighting.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks dude, means a lot coming from you!

I think you fly under my radar a lot, as you have a fantastic gallery. Great colour palettes, and I love the line art.
A definite Follow.

LoganPhresh responds:

Been following your stuff since i first started drawing, so that really means a deal to me. thanks yo

Hi Lint.
Fairly sure this is what the Minit designers had in mind when they were designing their game sprites.

Good thick painterly style and bold use of colour, as always. I’d prob put a notch more detail on the hilt, personally.

Lintire responds:

You mean that "toilet roll with a very large dime bolted on the end" isn't a 1:1 representation of what sword hilts look like?

Yeah you got me there, sorta hashed that bit out. I'll give it a better eye-full next time. And cheers!

This is the best entry I’ve managed to see so far. Both because it demonstrates technique, and it has fleshed out the details in the background that others tend to overlook.

I think the piece could have the solid areas of colour broken up by Overlaying the entire picture with a low opacity noise filter, but that’s personal preference.

This is a nice piece, and I hope you’re happy with it.

aoliveski responds:

Thank you man! I've learned a lot doing this piece, and i'm very happy with your feedback!

Charmin .... chimeraing ... chi ... charm ... nice pic, old bean.
Good use of pastel colours!

Lundsfryd responds:

Haha. Thanks. Miss you too buddy.

I saw that you were one of the first few people who submitted, and your’s stood out. I just wanted to mention:
- The orthogonality of the Aztec style lends itself really well to the pixel drawings, and
- I dig the acidic rainbow palette.

Along with your Mexican skull pics, you do some nice decorative pixel work. Keep it up!

LexRodent responds:

Glad you liked it.
I've noticed the pre-Hispanic Mexican carving and sculpting style translates well to pixels.
Maybe I can get some more ideas digging into it.
Thanks for your review.
