I got the joke
and my penis is 12" long

This is the best entry I’ve managed to see so far. Both because it demonstrates technique, and it has fleshed out the details in the background that others tend to overlook.

I think the piece could have the solid areas of colour broken up by Overlaying the entire picture with a low opacity noise filter, but that’s personal preference.

This is a nice piece, and I hope you’re happy with it.

aoliveski responds:

Thank you man! I've learned a lot doing this piece, and i'm very happy with your feedback!

Charmin .... chimeraing ... chi ... charm ... nice pic, old bean.
Good use of pastel colours!

Lundsfryd responds:

Haha. Thanks. Miss you too buddy.

I saw that you were one of the first few people who submitted, and your’s stood out. I just wanted to mention:
- The orthogonality of the Aztec style lends itself really well to the pixel drawings, and
- I dig the acidic rainbow palette.

Along with your Mexican skull pics, you do some nice decorative pixel work. Keep it up!

LexRodent responds:

Glad you liked it.
I've noticed the pre-Hispanic Mexican carving and sculpting style translates well to pixels.
Maybe I can get some more ideas digging into it.
Thanks for your review.

Happy Pixel Day!

First impression is that I really like the complexity of your dithering throughout the picture, especially on the radial gradient around the outside.

I love that you wrote code to assist with the drawing, as you’ve got some great structures (and dithering!) that is ridiculously tricky otherwise. That looping border and it’s shading is really well formed. I hope you push further with coding+illustrations, as the output is really refreshing and good quality.

Oh, and the frog’s sweet!

Zanzlanz responds:

Hey thanks so much TOAS, for the kind review and for scouting me as an artist here on Newgrounds! That was an unexpected and exciting surprise for me. :D

I totally would love to continue generating stuff like this with code - especially into pixel art since I think it can be integrated more naturally than other mediums. I'll definitely keep trying to think of ideas with that!

Happy Pixel Day! (And again your octopus is ink-redible!)

I caught this pic this morning, and I was enjoying the clean quality of the characters and the animation.

Rewatching this on loop again, it’s nice to catch all the little bits I originally missed, like the heroine’s combat moves against the four enemies, and the flashes for impact. If the animation was slower, I could definitely savour them.

Really nice.

Well, that looks super.
Love the toothy grin and the brow. Great job.

I've forgotten how you make these. What's the white medium?

DieterTheuns responds:

Just your basic white markers/pens in various sizes.

Also, my thumb. You can't buy that.

The colours and brushes are nice, although you are recreating this image:

Having a flick through your gallery, you appear to be one of those artists who takes an image off Google Image search and paints it. That's good for learning how to use brushes, but you are making a copy of an existing painting.

If you like making wolf drawings, it might be worth your while to do some studies of wolves (or just their heads and skulls), get a rough idea of their shape and try making a wolf bust from scratch - if it's out of your head, it's something that you can definitely call your own.

BradMeyersArt responds:

There are several versions of this wolf painting based off actual photos... not sure what your problem is with somebody using a reference.. move along. And as far as you insulting my work and saying most are copies.. you are way wrong.. you can shove that turkey stick up your arse, pal. Maybe this will make you feel better.. ya F*** http://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/bdmeyers/process
