This picture makes me feel uncomfortable.

I really like the content of some of your pics.
The only problem is I'm struggling to see what's in them!

Take this one, there's a scorpion, but you can barely see the dwarves that it's fighting against. You've got one light source, the torch on the wall, but you shouldn't let it impede the content of the pic (plus it begs the question on why the scorpion is more well lit than the dwarves). Also for a fight scene the dwarves and scorpion are in unexciting poses.

If you can push the values in your pics so that we can see your characters, I'm sure you'll pick up a lot of followers for your fantasy-art scenes.

Got a feeling I'll be missing Robot Day this year, even though I love it. I'm glad you're flying the Robot Day Flag in the art portal, since I've seen a fair few of your robot pics and they look great.

Loving the textures in this one, and would like to see a full body pose rather than a bust shot. Keep up the good work.

Somebody's had a busy week.

Flowers10 responds:

Appreciate it!

Your other pixelised submissions are alright, but this picture and the Scaramanga one rub me up the wrong way. My gut's telling me that one of the first steps in producing them is running a photo through a filter, since the Scaramanga pic lines up, pixel-to-pixel, with an image found on Google.

I hope you avoid doing this in the future, and keep up the work where you develop the image from a blank canvas upwards, rather than upon a photo.

solidpawn responds:

Yeah, I can see how this is a problem. Thank you.

That is kick-ass, Zane. I think the landscape could be livened up with some more features, since I can't quite tell if we're on a wateland, swamp, etc ... , but I can't deny that I was stunned on opening the image up.

Both the bug and the bloke blew me away.

ZaneZansorrow responds:

Thanks turkey :3

I'm thinking of removing the tree thing silhouette to see if I can give better information on the setting ;D

Maybe replace the silhouette with a smaller one.

Loving the linework, colouring and shading on this one; the discoloured shading tending to green works really well. Keep it up.

deathink responds:

Thanks man! This took a while to color, but it turned out better than I imagined it would.

Oh lordy, I was so ready to love this pic when I saw it on your news post. I really like the linework and the colours, especially from the lightsources in front of the orc and behind it. Really great.

One thing that niggles me is the position of his rear leg a little awkward, since it's a bit screwy with the perspective (the size of the foot and angle of the leg, compared to its position on the ground) and his pose: looks like he's fit to topple and squash the hobbits.

A grand piece, nonetheless. Looking forward to more.

deathink responds:

Thanks man! I am looking forward to showing you more!

Sorry Zane, but at best I like the dynamicism of the ninja-kick to the robot foetus, and the muted muscular shapes you've got going on in the ninja's figure.

Compositionally I think it's a bit lacklustre, and I think you're capable of doing so much more. The frog bot itself ... probably could be more out of focus, if you're focussing on the action in the foreground. I think you could have also made the frog's bonnet more symmetrical down it's centre too, since it's very off-putting currently.

The texture on the parapet is pretty clumsy, too. It's something I shouldn't need to comment on! Would be better if it was rotated and more sympathetic to the shape of the parapet, which could be achieved with the transform tool. The parapet doesn't seem to abide by the laws of perspective that your ninja is sticking too, either.

Good experiment with dynamicism, but I think it might be worthwhile to revisit perspective and composition in your next Flood pic. If you wanted to.

ZaneZansorrow responds:

Lintire beat you to it :P

I'll promise to keep these things in mind.
